Can C & C Pet Fund help you?

Three quick questions. No name, no email, nothing sent anywhere.

Are you and your pet in Florida?

Our funding can only be used at veterinary practices in the state of Florida.

Has a vet seen your pet and told you it can be treated?

We need a veterinarian to have examined your pet, given you a written cost, and to expect a good outcome from the treatment.

Tick anything that is true for you

We look for at least two of these four. Read them properly, because people often have one they did not think counted.

You have not ticked any yet. You need two.

Go to the checklist

This tool cannot approve you. It only tells you whether it is worth applying. Every application is read by a person, funding is limited, and there is no guarantee of approval.

Step two

What gets sent, and who sends it

We work directly with veterinary hospitals, so your vet submits the case, not you. Your job is to gather your own proof and hand it to them.

Your vet sends us

Ask the front desk. This is routine paperwork and they will know exactly what you mean.

You give your vet proof of two of these four

Only two. Read them properly, because people often have one they did not think counted.

About the $200

It does not have to be your money

One of the four things we look for is that at least $200 of the bill is being paid by the owner. People read that and count themselves out, and they should not.

Family counts. Friends count. A collection at work counts. An online fundraiser counts. It only has to reach the vet, it does not have to come out of your account.

A small amount of cash and coins counted out on a kitchen table beside a phone, with a dog resting its chin on the edge of the table

Tell your veterinarian you want to apply. If they have not worked with us before, they can reach us at info@ccpetfund.org and we will walk them through it. There is a page written for practices at For Vets that you are welcome to send them.

Before you send it

Two things worth knowing

If you are approved, we ask one thing of you

Write us a few lines about what happened and how the fund helped you and your pet, so we can put it in our stories. It is how the next family finds us, and how the people who donate see where their money went.

If we cannot help, ask your vet what else exists

Practices keep lists of other funds, and some of the bigger hospital chains run their own assistance programmes. Ask at the front desk. Being turned down by us is not the end of the road.

A recent pay stub, an unemployment benefits letter or a disability benefits letter. It has to be recent. We cannot use tax forms for this.

Yes. Any refusal from CareCredit, a bank, a credit card company or another lender counts, whenever it happened.

It does not have to be your own money. Family, friends, a workplace collection or an online fundraiser all count. If you genuinely cannot reach $200, you may still qualify on two of the other three criteria.

A printed or emailed document from your veterinary practice listing the treatment your pet needs and what each part costs. A number somebody said to you across the counter is not enough. Ask the front desk for it in writing, they do this every day.

Ask the front desk for the treating veterinarian's name, the practice address and their medical licence number. It is a normal request and they will know what you mean.
